Temporary Lodging at "WestPac Lodge", Camp Foster, Okinawa

Well, I'm sure most people are curious about where I've been staying since I arrived on Okinawa, and what it looks like. It's called the WestPac Lodge. Not too bad for temporary lodging. Many families spend upto two months in here waiting for their housing to become available. We got lucky, and I'll have only spent nine days here. Each night is $90.00, but it is a reimbursable expense.

You can see that some of the pictures above are less than high quality. Unfortunately, I don't have the digital camera. I took these photos with my cell phone camera, which describes why the pictures are lower quality. But, they're better than nothing. So, keep the criticism to a minimum. ;-)

Well, today I setup our home internet and cable tv. We also have cell phones to use here on Okinawa. I'll tell you that the last time I was on Okinawa (Dec 1991 - Dec 1992), there was no cell phones or internet/ e-mail, and we were limited to about 4 US tv channels on U.S. bases here. Now, there's internet, e-mail, VOIP telephones, and about 65 tv channels. We're technologically spoiled now.

If you call us on the cell phone, there will be an international long distance charge. So, it may be a bit pricey. Let me know if you want the international phone numbers. We also have our local home telephone setup, but again, callers will have to dial international long distance. We will have a Vonage account with a Massachusetts number, but it may take some time to setup; please be patient. Having Vonage will provide a "sateside" phone number for family and friends to call us on without having to pay international long distance.
