Thursday 6 Nov marked our 4th wedding anniversary. Considering that it was a full work day for me, we agreed that it would be nice to go out for dinner. We decided on a restaurant named Yoshihachi, which is a fairly famous sushi bar here on Okinawa. The walls inside are lined with pictures of famous people that have either met the owner or have dined at the restaurant. This was our second visit. The first was with friends that live nextdoor to our multi-plex (a.k.a. apartment).
As you can see, the setting is traditional Japanese. As you proceed to your table, you are required to remove your shoes prior to stepping up to your table, which is just about knee-high. I must say that before we transferred to Okinawa, I did not think of sushi as a viable food source. I wasn't too keen on eating raw fish as a meal... now that we've ventured out to the local restaurants and see just about everyone else eating sushi, I committed to trying it. I've added a new favorite to the list. I still won't eat raw tuna or salmon, but am into the white fish sushi. Slap on a little wasabi and some soy sauce... bingo bango, ya got yourself a nice food. Andreana still isn't into it, but I suspect she'll love it soon. I've gotten her to try a couple of different types of sashimi (raw fish) and she's liked them... it will grow on her ;-) Andreana's favorite here is Yakisoba, which is what she had for dinner.
