So any of you that know me well know that I would rather jump out of a plane than be stuck in one with bugs. So, now my story. We have been to Okuma several times since we have been here on Okinawa and have done Blogs in the past of our trips. If you look back in the archives you will see why we love going there so much. This trip we decided to check out a nature trail that was not very far from where we were staying. I don't know why the word NATURE didn't stick out at me at the time I guess I was focused of the beautiful view we would find while walking the trail. So anyway, the beginning of the trail was a very steep hill, as you can see from the picture above (picture #2). But the way the light was shining through the jungle trees was calling me to keep walking. Rob was pushing Victoria in her stroller and of course I had the go first. My first encounter with nature was one of the biggest Japanese Beetles I have ever seen. Japanese Beetles and I don't get along, they always seem to eat my roses back in the states. But, harmless, it was just resting on the ground, so I keep walking into the jungle on Okinawa and now the fun begins, there are Banana spider webs about every 2 feet right in the middle of the trail and as you can see from pictures
# 2 and 5 they were not very small. Those of you that know Rob have heard of his back in the day Okinawa stories and know that he had an encounter with one the size of the palm of his hand. Fortunately for me they were not that big. There was no turning back now I would just have to go under all the webs we had just past so I decided to keep moving forward. Finally the view. It was beautiful but not beautiful enough for me to walk that trail again. I did forget to mention that while I was dodging banana spider webs there were ginormous cicada bugs flying all around us, and although harmless as well they will dive bomb anyone who comes close enough. Just when I thought I was out of the jungle I walked straight into a spider web and barely missed it landing on my head, I ran for the beach as fast as I could nothing was going t stop me now. Victoria didn't know what was going on she kept saying "What happened?" and Rob couldn't stop laughing. Although at the time it was not amusing to me at all I can look back at these pictures and justify (with a chuckle) my reason for never walking that trail again. We had one day of rain and thunder and lightning but it didn't stop us from driving to the Northern most tip of Okinawa and taking a few pictures and almost driving into the jungle of no return Hahahaha, that is the last picture. We decided turning around would be a very good option. I'm sure this will be our last and final adventure at Okuma before we head back to North Carolina. We have had lots of fun times there and many good memories that we can look back on.

Ahahahahaha that is the best story i have heard in a long time, and created a much needed laugh, although at your expense. I could picture the whole thing in my head as i was reading along. I was laughing with you Rob. But i'm sure i would have had the same reaction if i was there with you. I would have dodged them by throwing Jon at the webs, or making him go through first as i ducked behind him. I may also have put the bug net for the stroller over my entire boddy, or do all of the above! Anyway. I'm so glad you guys had such an awesome vacation. Maybe when i win the lottery we can go back all together and you guys can show us the ropes, minus the spiders. love you guys. xoxoxox
