Victoria's Dr. visit went well today (16 Sept at 1300). She is on par for growth and weight. She weighed-in at 11 lbs 7 oz, which is right where the Dr. said she should be at 9-weeks old. The man in the video below is not her Dr., but he did administer the shots, which Victoria obviously did not enjoy. Momma calmed her down quickly with her caring touch. She's a GREAT mom! Little Momma's next Dr. appointment will be the middle of November (she'll be 4-months old).
This is a picture of the entrance for the only Naval Hospital on Okinawa. This is where Victoria's Pediatrician is. It's about 50-60 minutes from our house. It is a nice facility located on Camp Lester. Andreana's Dr is closer to home, but it's at a clinic, vice being at the hospital. She could have opted for the Naval Hospital, but thought it was too far. In order to get a pediatrician for Victoria, we had to use the Naval Hospital.
I'll say that Victoria is a well-behaved baby (I'm biased I know). All of the nurses and care-givers that were around her today asked if she is always this well-behaved, and we said yes. Especially when she's the center of attention... she loves the attention! (Of course all of the fun stopped when it was time for shots!)
The lady in the fruity getup was one of the nurses at the initial check-in. She's an Okinawan lady, but spoke english well. Some of the people that work at the hospital must be contracted local care-givers. Most personnel are US though. Japanese people are very courteous and friendly. It was a nice experience all around (except for the shots). I think Andreana felt comfortable with the Dr. too. Although we don't have a picture of her, she was very nice and had all the answers for the questions that Andreana and I had. Plus, I asked her if we would see her each time, and she said yes. We both requested to see the same Dr for continuity of care. Victoria's Dr. just arrived on Okinawa a few weeks ago herself so, she'll be here for a while!
